On Friday, January 25, 2013 at approximately 5:45 pm officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to a residence on Orchard St. on a reported assault with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim who was suffering from injuries to his face. The victim reported that two subjects entered his residence and assaulted him by spraying him with pepper spray or mace. The victim also reported that he was punched and kicked several times about the body by both subjects. Prior to the arrival of the officers, the suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in an unknown vehicle. The victim was later treated for a fractured nose at Banner Lassen Medical Center and released.
Initial interviews revealed that one of the suspects was identified by the victim as Shannon Puckett age/29 of Susanville. The other suspect was initially only known as “Bill”.
The investigation led to the other suspect being identified as William Egan age/54 of Susanville. On January 26, 2013 at approximately 5:40 pm Egan was located at a residence in the 800 block of Willow St. in Susanville and taken into custody without incident. Egan was booked into the Lassen County Jail on the charges of robbery, kidnapping, and false imprisonment. Egan was held on $60,000.00 bail. Shannon Puckett remains at large and his whereabouts are unknown at this time.
The Susanville Police Department was assisted by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement officers from the U.S. Forest Service during the investigation.
